When Google Vids rolled out in 2024, it was initially intended as a tool for professionals. Even as access expanded beyond Gemini for Workspace customers, the AI-powered video generator remained locked behind Google’s subscription plans. However, Google has been a little more generous in recent months, giving free users a taste earlier this year. Now the company is opening the door for everyone to use Vids with its latest video generation model.
Google has announced that it has integrated its newest AI models into Vids, including Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash-Lite. Anyone with a personal Google or Workspace account can now use the latest Omni model to generate 1080p videos. What’s even better is that you’ll be able to generate videos at no cost.
You can give the tool a try by visiting vids.new on desktop and selecting “Create AI videos.” However, the company doesn’t mention if there are any limits for free users. It only notes that you may want to check out its Google AI plans for more access. Keep in mind that any video you create will have a SynthID digital watermark embedded in its frames.
Along with this announcement, Google revealed that it will soon roll out Gemini 3.8 Flash-Lite text-to-speech in Google Vids. This model is designed to turn a script into a voiceover for your generated video. The company says that Gemini 3.8 Flash-Lite will support over 100 languages when it rolls out.
