Meta is preparing to make its new AI agent Muse the brains behind its smart glasses, potentially replacing the standard Meta AI with a significantly more autonomous assistant.
Famed reverse engineer Jane Manchun Wong revealed on X that Meta is testing an option to set Muse as the default assistant for connected eyewear.
The leaked setup screen, titled “Enable Impacc as your glasses assistant?” (where “Impacc” likely refers to an internal codename for Muse), notes that Muse is in beta and will allow users to swap back to Meta AI whenever they prefer. Interestingly, the prompt explicitly lists features that are not yet available in the beta, tipping Meta’s hand on what is coming: Live AI, Navigation, Shazam song identification, Strava, and Health Connect integrations.
Adding turn-by-turn navigation and fitness-tracking capabilities would transform Meta’s eyewear from a passive conversational accessory into an active, hands-free personal enabler device, just like your phone. Wearers could perhaps track a run in Strava or ask the glasses to guide them home entirely by voice.
A separate leak shared by Wong on X shows Meta is also working on “Meta Pay for Muse,” developing a native wallet interface for Muse with Meta Pay support, alongside Stripe’s Link and Shop Pay. The integration appears designed to enable the agent to execute real-world transactions and make secure purchases on a user’s behalf.
