New chips for our phones are probably what we look forward to the most at Snapdragon Summit. However, Qualcomm’s coming forward with a new partnership—or rather, a new alliance for our health.
Over in Belfast, U.K., AI-powered health solutions were the name of the game for Qualcomm and its partner, Global Health Connector. According to a press release, the two companies have joined forces to leverage AI for our health and create the Personal AI Health Alliance (PAIHA). While these two companies are at the helm, Optum Health, Scripps Health, MERCK, Digital Medicine Society, and Biocom, among others, are also involved.
The PAIHA reportedly has “three main beliefs” that are steering its focus moving forward. The first involves remaining “perceptive.” Wearables should provide “richer health insights” through continuous, real-world sensing. The post builds on this, stating AI-powered health solutions show promise in delivering crucial information to users and health providers daily.

Staying “proximal” is another aspect of having AI solutions that are a seamless part of our daily lives. Specifically, this concerns the storage and processing of the user’s health data. The Personal AI Health Alliance wants user data to remain private by implementing on-device AI to “reduce exposure associated with transmitting data…”
This is an ongoing process, though; one that the alliance states it will continue to work on and research. Finally, there’s the “proactive” side of what the Health Alliance is chasing. Delivering “timely” and “relevant” health insights to users is important for the user’s well-being. However, the PAIHA also sees this as a way to “reduce costs or validate drug efficacy.”
Rich data should mean something
We’re still at the beginning of the PAIHA, but it states that it has provided proof of concept and more. Echoing its beliefs, the PAIHA states these AI-powered solutions aim to make health data “more continuous.” However, your health data is yours. It should feel personal, while also remaining accessible. Bleddyn Rees, Global Health Connector, said, “Healthcare is data-rich but often insight-poor. The real opportunity lies in turning data into actionable intelligence that improves outcomes for everyone.”
We’ve seen similar sentiments and an urge to make continuous health recording mean something before. This seems to be the direction this space is headed. With a stronger alliance such as the PAIHA, perhaps the future looks bright.
