Tesla‘s second-generation Roadster could be the most postponed car ever. Originally announced in November 2017, and slated for a 2020 launch, the allegedly super-quick electric car has been delayed time and time again.
After many, many teasers and subsequent delays over the last two years, Tesla was finally slated to unveil the Roadster on Oct. 1. Alas, that’s not going to happen.
On Monday, Tesla’s official X account said the event has been rescheduled to Oct. 15.
“We’ve been tracking the weather closely with local meteorologists, but given the severe conditions predicted & because this event can only be held outdoors, we’ve made the difficult decision to reschedule.

New date is October 15. Additional details to follow,” the message said.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk chimed in with a clarification of his own: “Due to high winds, the new Roadster demo is postponed by 2 weeks,” he tweeted.
The countdown timer on Tesla’s website has now changed to reflect the Oct. 15 launch.
This, of course, caused a hurricane of tweets dunking on Musk saying, essentially, that windy weather shouldn’t be a problem for a car. This is a car, however, that (according to Musk) will be able to fly in certain configurations, at least over a short distance. It appears that the flying part will depend on the weather.
