Rockstar has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 will let players listen to radio and on-demand podcasts while walking, expanding the series’ audio beyond the car. The announcement also reveals six stations, with previews available on the Grand Theft Auto 6 website.
Radio Leaves the Car
The change gives players a way to keep Leonida’s soundtrack with them when they leave a vehicle. Headphones or earbuds connected to a character’s phone will let them listen on the move, rather than requiring them to be behind the wheel.
There is also a distinction between the game’s radio and its new podcasts. Previous Grand Theft Auto games included talk radio, but those stations ran continuously like music stations whenever selected. In Grand Theft Auto 6, podcasts are on-demand, rather than broadcasts that are always active when tuned in. Rockstar has not shared further details about their titles or format.
The Six Confirmed Radio Stations
Rockstar has revealed six stations, each with its own genre and in-game hosts. The lineup ranges across Latin music, country, African music, metal, pop, and Southern rap and hip-hop:
- Cocoteo FM: Modern Latin music hosted by El Martillo and La Gata, spanning bachata, merengue, dembow, and reggaeton.
- Back Country Radio: Renegade country for the Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, and beyond, with MW, Delta Dawne, and Mud Dog Mike featured in its station description.
- AfroBank FM: African music curated by Burna and Palmsy, from 20th-century classics and lesser-known finds to amapiano and 3-step.
- The Chamber 106.6: Classic metal from the 1980s and beyond, with DJ Kerry and DJ Tom.
- Flash FM: Pop hosted by Robyn and Alex.
- Dirty South Classics: Regional rap and hip-hop classics hosted by Trick and Trina.
Station Previews Are Available Now
Players can sample previews from each of the six revealed stations on the Grand Theft Auto 6 website. That offers an early listen to the different sounds Rockstar is bringing to Leonida, while the on-foot option means those stations won’t be confined to drives across the map.
The announcement confirms these six stations and the new podcast feature, but does not establish the size of the full radio lineup or when more details will arrive. For now, the key shift is clear: players can take both radio and podcasts along when they step out of the car.
