No Man’s Sky launches on the App Store for iPhone and iPad on October 28, giving players another way to access Hello Games’ expanding space-exploration universe. The release is part of Apple’s Indie Games Week lineup, where it is the only one of seven featured games not available immediately.
What to expect from the mobile port
Players who already explore the game on other platforms will be able to sync their progress with the App Store version, according to GameSpot’s report. That gives existing players the option to continue their save on Apple devices rather than starting over.
The port supports controllers, touchscreen input, or a mix of the two. Hello Games founder Sean Murray said touch controls are particularly useful for working through the game’s menus and systems, while the game will choose graphical settings based on the device and let players adjust them manually.
The stated compatibility range reaches back to iPhones and iPads released in 2019. That puts the mobile version within reach of a broad range of Apple devices already in players’ hands, rather than restricting the launch to the newest hardware.
Years of updates shaped the release
Murray said the iOS port had been in development for years. The delay was tied to No Man’s Sky’s ongoing free updates: as the game expanded, the team had to bring each wave of additions to iPhone and iPad too, and has now caught up.
Apple’s announcement says the mobile debut includes every major content expansion released so far, including the recent Cosmos update, which lets players command their own space stations. The launch therefore brings the established game and its accumulated content to mobile, rather than offering a separate, pared-down adventure.

Release date and device support
No Man’s Sky arrives on the App Store on October 28. Players can use touch, a controller, or both, with compatibility extending to Apple devices released as far back as 2019.
