Control Resonant Sales Set Remedy Record

October 16, 2026

Strong reviews and a rapid sales start have put Control Resonant at the top of Remedy’s release record: the game passed one million copies sold in three weeks, despite leaks and piracy following its September digital launch.

Remedy announced the milestone on October 15, 2026. IGN and PC Gamer both reported the sales figure and the three-week timeframe, with the result making Control Resonant the studio’s fastest-selling game.

A faster start than Alan Wake 2

The previous record belonged to Alan Wake 2, which took two months to reach one million copies. Control Resonant got there in less than half that time, a meaningful pace difference for Remedy’s latest release.

The milestone came after leakers cracked the game and pirated copies circulated following its digital debut. IGN reported that fans urged others to buy the game rather than download it illegally, framing that response as a show of support for Remedy-not as a measure of the studio’s finances.

The game also drew positive reception from critics and players. IGN awarded it 8/10, while Remedy’s communications director Thomas Puha responded to the sales result by describing it as a strong start. Remedy’s social-media announcement thanked players for supporting the game and taking part in its community.

Physical editions extend the sales window

Digital sales have already carried Control Resonant past Alan Wake 2’s record, but physical editions had just reached stores when the milestone was reported. That gives the game another route to reach players beyond its launch-period digital audience.

The early pace is striking alongside other recent single-player sales milestones, including Death Stranding 2’s sales performance. It also puts Remedy’s result in the same broad conversation as Lies of P reaching three million copies sold, though the games’ figures and timeframes are not directly comparable.

Remedy’s next checkpoint

One million copies establishes a clear launch milestone, but it does not by itself settle what the game will earn over time. PC Gamer reported that Remedy’s third-quarter business review was scheduled for November 3, 2026, offering the next company update on Control Resonant’s success.
