New Game+, boss rush land free on PS5

Housemarque’s PS5 roguelike Saros picked up its first major update on October 19, 2026: Zenith, a free download adding New Game Plus, a boss rush mode and 20 new modifiers.

The studio confirmed on the PlayStation Blog that the update is out now on PlayStation 5 at no cost, and released a launch trailer alongside it. Zenith is aimed at both ends of the player base: options that make the game easier to approach, and endgame structure for players who have already finished it.

Eclipse Layers and 20 new modifiers

The New Game Plus mode is called Eclipse Layers. After a first playthrough, new nodes appear on the Armor Matrix in the Passage, Saros’s hub area, and unlocking them opens a gate to the next Eclipse Layer. Pushing further into the layers requires stacking more Carcosan Modifiers, the game’s difficulty-augmenting systems. In Eclipse Layers, protagonist Arjun wears a crown and golden armor, and the crown grows as more modifiers are added, with higher-level crowns unlocking hidden messages scattered through the world.

The update also adds 10 new Protection Modifiers and 10 new Trial Modifiers. One of the Protection Modifiers, Corruption Melee Enhancement, expels Corruption to grant a damage boost on close-range strikes.

Overlord Rush brings a boss rush and leaderboards

Overlord Rush is the new boss rush mode, with three sets. Incursion and Ascension each put three of the game’s Overlords up one at a time, while Totality runs all eight bosses back to back. The mode feeds a leaderboard, giving the speedrun-minded end of the audience a persistent target.

Housemarque said in the announcement that it put a lot of thought into balancing features that make the game easier against its core identity. Zenith adds a Slow Game Speed setting that lets players adjust the speed of enemy bullet patterns, either as a manual toggle or automatically when projectiles are incoming, plus an Auto-fire option that fires at whatever the player is aiming at so the focus stays on dodging. Manual reloads, and the timed button press for perfect reloads, are still on the player.

The update is free and available now on PS5.
