Apple ‘Pro and Tell’ MacBook event: Everything we expect

October 23, 2026

Apple isn’t done with new product releases quite yet.

Fall has proven to be quite a busy season for Apple, with the September iPhone event, which saw the grand debut of the new iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo. Apple then followed up with the “Welcome Home” smart home launch event earlier this month, where the company unveiled its new HomeView device alongside a slew of other products.

Apple is now preparing for an Oct. 28 event in Los Angeles. What does Apple have in store next? The invitations for the event went out with the tagline “Pro and Tell,” so all signs point to a new MacBook Pro. In fact, we fully expect that Apple will reveal the long-awaited touchscreen OLED MacBook.

However, we all know Apple loves a “One More Thing” approach, and we’re following rumors on a few new devices. Here’s everything we expect to learn at the “Pro and Tell” special event next week.

The latest MacBook Pro OLED rumors: What we know about Apple’s upcoming touchscreen MacBooks

Apple has never released a MacBook with a touchscreen or OLED display, so this is a big deal.

Bloomberg’s Apple insider Mark Gurman says the touchscreen MacBook will have a different design than the current MacBook Pro models. The laptop will be thinner and lighter, and the OLED display will allow for thinner bezels on the device. Apple is also expected to replace the notch with a hole-punch camera with a Dynamic Island, much like the iPhone, according to Gurman.

Don’t get too excited, though, unless you’re ready to pay a premium for Apple’s upcoming new laptop. The touchscreen OLED MacBook won’t be cheap.

The existing MacBook Pro lineup starts at $1,999 for the 14-inch M5 chip model and $2,499 for the 16-inch M5 Pro chipset model. So, a touchscreen OLED model could get pricey.

M6 MacBooks and iMacs

While Apple may not be launching touchscreen MacBooks with the M6 chip, the company is expected to launch refreshed versions of its current MacBook Pro with the new chipset.

Apple unveiled its first M6 device with the new Mac mini in August. The company seems on track to roll out the M6 chip to the MacBook Pro and iMac next.

Based on how Apple rolled out the M5 chip last year, and Gurman’s latest reports, don’t be surprised to see a new entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro launched on Oct. 28 with the M6 chip.

There’s also a rumor of an updated iMac launching at the event as well. The iMac hasn’t seen a refresh since 2024, when the M4 model was released. If a new M6 iMac is indeed unveiled, there could be new color options as well.

The last iPad mini was launched in 2024 with the A17 Pro chip, which was the chipset powering the iPhone 15 Pro. It’s well time for a refresh, and it seems like we will be getting one.

Apple has been rumored to be working on its first water-resistant iPad, and it appears that the new iPad mini will be that device, although it’s unclear as to what level it will be water-resistant.

The new iPad mini is expected to be powered by the new A20 Pro chip, have an OLED display with thinner bezels, and a new front-facing selfie camera, according to MacRumors.

Updates to Apple Creator Studio?

We’re speculating here a bit, but Apple is reportedly taking a creator-centric approach to its Oct. 28 special event. In addition, 9to5Mac reported this week that Apple keeps acquiring companies with a specific strategy in mind: Improving its Apple Creator Studio subscription offering.

If Apple did want to announce updates to Creator Studio, then a creator-focused event like this would be the perfect opportunity.

Will Apple also unveil any unexpected surprises? We’ll have to wait and see on Oct. 28.
