Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launched last week with 33 Operators available in both Multiplayer and DMZ, and Activision’s Ready for Launch announcement spells out how every one of them unlocks. The roster is split across default unlocks, pre-order bonuses, challenge rewards and premium edition perks, and a companion post on Xbox Wire covers the progression and prestige system players will rank through to get there.
What you get from day one
Five Operators are available immediately: Min-Hee, CTSFO, Mil-Sim KSK Arctic, UCTF and Army SF Airborne, according to the official listing. Pre-ordering any digital edition adds Hunter Killer, while the Vault Edition gates the biggest names on the roster: Ghost, Blix, Price, SAS, South Korean SF, COM FST, KSK Amphibious and Valeria all sit behind that premium tier.
Challenge and store unlocks
The rest of the roster comes through play. A launch guide from Destructoid maps the challenge unlocks: Reece arrives at DMZ level 4, Coffey at 9, Simone at 15 and Hector at 19, while Blackwell asks for 3 Operator kills without dying, repeated 10 times in Multiplayer. The same guide notes Kyle comes with the Call of Duty Endowment Valor Pack and that Ju Kwon has not been revealed yet, with a Season 1 pass expected to carry the last missing Operator.

Create-a-Class now carries an Operator slot
One mechanical change sits inside the announcement: players can now assign an individual Operator to each loadout in Create-a-Class. Paired with more than 20 primary weapons unlockable in DMZ and Multiplayer, per Destructoid’s count, it means a loadout can carry both a full build and a character that fits the way it plays. Activision published the roster breakdown on October 19, days before pre-order customers got early access to the campaign and DMZ, and the full game arrived in late October on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2, with the Steam store page listing the Windows release at €69.99.
