Sony announced the Prism Collection on October 28: transparent DualSense controllers and PS5 console covers in three colors, Flare Orange, Emerald Green and Graphite Gray.
The collection arrives the same year Microsoft announced a 25th-anniversary translucent green Xbox Series X earlier this year, making the late-’90s see-through trend an open contest between the two platform holders. PlayStation design team member Leo Cardoso framed the nostalgia play in Sony’s announcement on PlayStation.Blog: “We know how much our fans have been looking forward to the return of transparent controllers. We wanted to bring back the iconic see-through trend of the late ’90s in a fresh, modern way that complements the PS5’s industrial design.”
See-through, in three colors
The line consists of three DualSense controllers and three matching console covers, each with a transparent element. PlayStation design team member Satoshi Aoyagi said the high-gloss clear finish “extends across the back of the controller, offering a look at the technology that powers the DualSense controller.”
Prism also breaks a 2026 run of collaboration controllers for Sony, which spent the year on tie-in lines for GTA 6, LISA, Marvel’s Wolverine and Marathon. It is the company’s first non-collaboration DualSense collection since the Hyperpop line earlier this year.
Prices and how to pre-order
The DualSense controllers carry a recommended retail price of $84.99 in the US, €84.99 in the Eurozone and £74.99 in the UK. The matching console covers cost $74.99 in the US, €74.99 in the Eurozone and £64.99 in the UK, and will be sold exclusively through PlayStation where available, with limited quantities at select retailers in some other markets.
Pre-orders open November 10, 2026 at 10am local time through PlayStation Direct and participating retailers, which is 7am PT in the US. The Prism Collection launches February 4, 2027, with availability varying by region.
