O2 upgrades mobile signal at Haven holiday parks

Haven holiday parks across the UK are seeing increasing demand for robust connectivity among guests, and to help meet these needs, O2 has completed the latest phase of mobile network upgrades at seven parks across the country.

As one of Britain’s leading family holiday companies, Haven owns and operates 39 award-winning family holiday parks throughout England, Scotland and Wales. Haven sites are dotted around or near the coast, offering self-catering holidays, touring and camping holidays, and holiday home ownership.

Since 2000, Haven has been part of Bourne Leisure, the largest privately owned holiday operator in the UK, which employs more than 16,000 team members during the peak season across its 58 venues in some of the most beautiful beach and countryside locations in the British Isles.

In 2025, recognising the crucial importance of high-quality connectivity to its guests, Haven announced that it was working with UK mobile connectivity provider O2 and its connectivity infrastructure-as-a-service partner Freshwave to bring enhanced mobile connectivity to 22 of its sites, looking to boost connectivity for those holidaying in the UK.

The first sites to be upgraded were Thornwick Bay Holiday Park in Yorkshire and Skegness Holiday Park in Lincolnshire. In the latest move, again delivered in collaboration with Freshwave, upgrades will take place in Marton Mere, Blackpool; Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset; Perran Sands, Cornwall; Devon Cliffs, Exmouth; Littlesea, Weymouth; Seaview, Weymouth; and Rockley Park, Poole.

In addition to boosting mobile coverage and capacity across the holiday parks, the improvements will also look to strengthen connectivity for nearby local communities, with better 4G and 5G services in areas that see visitor numbers rise sharply during school holiday periods.

Commenting on the deployment, Steven Verigotta, director of mobile delivery at O2, said: “Holidays are when people want their phones to simply work, whether they are sharing photos, streaming entertainment, checking the weather or keeping in touch with family back home. These upgrades are improving the mobile experience at some of the UK’s busiest holiday destinations, giving O2 customers more reliable connectivity when demand is highest.”

Freshwave CEO Simon Frumkin added: “Reliable connectivity has become an essential part of both the customer experience and day-to-day operations. As the neutral host partner, we’re pleased to be working with Haven and O2 to extend high-quality mobile coverage across Haven parks and neighbouring communities, combining commercial innovation with close technical collaboration to deliver lasting value.”

The project also forms part of the operator’s £700m Mobile Transformation Plan, which is upgrading mobile coverage, reliability and performance across the UK and will see investment in 2026 to expand mobile network coverage, improve reliability and boost mobile speeds through new sites, small cells, 4G and 5G upgrades, automation and additional spectrum deployment.

It is designed to focus investment in areas of the network that experience the highest demand and where connectivity is most critical. Priority areas where the operator is looking to deliver significant improvements include railways, roads, dense urban areas, hard-to-reach remote locations, stadiums and other venues.
