If you’ve been experiencing severe battery drain on your Pixel Watch lately, Google has confirmed that a fix is already rolling out.
It’s not uncommon for Google Pixel devices to run into software issues every now and then. Recently, Pixel 11 Pro users reported problems with video recording when Video Boost was enabled, while others have also faced issues with Google Photos.
And now, it looks like a bug affecting Pixel Watches has been causing unusually high battery drain as well. Thankfully, Google has confirmed that a fix is on the way.
In a statement today, Google confirmed that a battery drain bug affected a “small number of devices” and that a fix has already started rolling out (via Android Authority). The company says the rollout should be completed over the next couple of days.
To get the fix, Google says you’ll need to update all the apps installed on your Pixel Watch through the Play Store. To do this, open the Play Store app on your Pixel Watch, scroll to Manage apps, and then select Update all to install any pending app updates.
It’s worth noting that the issue wasn’t limited to any particular Pixel Watch generation. Instead, reports suggest the bug affected multiple generations of Google’s smartwatch, with some users experiencing battery life dropping to just around 12 hours, even with minimal use.
Google hasn’t revealed exactly what was causing the excessive battery drain or which app or background process was responsible. But thankfully, the company has now started rolling out a fix, which should reach affected devices over the next couple of days.
So, if your Pixel Watch has suddenly started losing battery much faster than usual, make sure you’ve updated all the apps on the watch itself. And if the issue continues, it’s worth checking again over the next few days as Google completes the rollout.
