The Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Remake Wore Out My Screenshot Button

November 5, 2026

The Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is a true showpiece for the Switch 2, and one of the best-looking games on the system. It’s also, for lots of older players who remember the original Ocarina of Time, a deeply nostalgic experience, so a lot of the joy comes down to seeing familiar moments reenvisioned with this beautiful presentation. As a result, I’ve been hammering my screenshot button like never before, all throughout the review experience.

Now to be clear, I’m not someone who often uses the screenshot button at all. I think I’ve touched it a half-dozen times, tops, since the Switch 2 came out. Occasionally I use it for note-keeping or other work purposes, but I hardly ever think to take a screenshot on my own simply because I’m wowed by something. That’s what made my use of it in Ocarina so surprising to me. I just kept hitting cinematic sequences, boss fights, or other visual treats that I felt compelled to make a recording.

This was especially true in cutscenes, when I knew what to expect and was anticipating a particular visual moment, like the first appearance of Ganondorf or when Link first drew the Master Sword. But it also came in handy for little flourishes, like noticing the texture work on the Goron and Zora tunics, which make them look noticeably different than Link’s standard green tunic, and not just a mere palette swap.

I was snapping so many shots, in fact, that I started thinking of it as a little travelogue. Check below for some of my favorite images, and be sure to read our Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake review, along with our in-depth interview with producers Eiji Aonuma and Hidemaro Fujibayashi.
