Here’s how many cases you have for your phone

Jimmy Westenberg / Android Authority

A case is arguably the most important accessory you can buy for your phone, especially if you’ve spent a pretty penny on the device. These cases are generally meant to protect your phone, but they also come in all shapes and sizes.

So with that in mind, we wondered whether Android Authority readers just stuck with one case for their device or if they had more. That’s what we asked earlier this week, and here are the results.

How many cases do you have for your phone?

Results

Over 1,400 votes were cast after we posted the poll on Monday, giving us a decent sample size. And the most popular option was clearly one case, with 40% of respondents choosing this.

In second place was the camp that said they’ve got two cases for their phone (22.45%). It seems like several reader comments supported this pick, explaining that they have one case for everyday usage and another for other needs (e.g. durability, car).

Interestingly enough, the third-most-popular pick was four or more cases (15.6%). Those who chose three cases came in fourth place (13.8%), and those who don’t have a case wound up in last position with almost 8% of the vote.

It’s also interesting to see two readers in the comments say they have multiple cases for style/fashion purposes. And who can blame them when there’s a bewildering variety of case options on the market.

Comments

  • eszklar: I currently have a Pixel 5 and before that a Pixel 3 and Pixel XL. They all went into Otterbox Defender cases. Don’t care that they look like bricks, I want maximum protection (including glass screen protectors).
  • Aashish: I have multiple cases. If I am too chicken to use my phone without a case, the last I can do is buy multiple and show off some style
  • Techngro: I currently only have one case. Most I’ve ever had for a phone was 2 (a wallet case and a basic TPU bumper case).
  • mattc: 2 because the bike uses a mount that the car doesn’t accept. Pop socket case for everyday and the car and a quad mount case for the bike.
  • Eric Pearson: I originally got the dbrand case for my s21 loved it and added a metal ring to it so I could use a wireless magnetic charger in the car. I was fairly please with my solution. Along came Moment {a camera company} with their built in metal ring that gave a satisfying snap onto “magsafe” chargers, now I have two cases. Anyone want a dbrand case?
  • Evie: I have 3 that I continuously change out to match my outfit. Purely for fashion but why not!
  • Colin English: I have two cases, one that came with the phone and one I bought that is more robust. I have dropped my phone a few times and it has resisted all damage.

Thank you for voting in this poll and for leaving a comment. Do you think all phones should come with a case? If so, what type of case? Let us know below.
