Music is a major element of The Last of Us, both the video game and the HBO TV series based on it. In the newest season of the show, we see more of how Joel built Ellie’s guitar and gifted it to her on a birthday. It was a tender, special moment, and if you want to own a similar guitar, iconic guitar manufacturer Taylor has created a replica of it–but it’ll cost you.
The guitar sells for $2,800 before tax, but it does come with a hardshell case and a lifetime warranty. Taylor is known for making a premium product, and this replica looks no different.

The replica was designed in partnership with the team from HBO and features the custom moth inlay on the third fret, matching the design of the guitar on the show. The guitars are made to order, so anyone with deep enough pockets to buy one will have to wait 6-10 weeks to get it.
“This acoustic-only model features a solid Sitka spruce top and solid sapele back and sides, delivering a clear, warm, balanced voice with appealing midrange presence,” Taylor said. “Additional appointments include grained ivoroid body binding, grained ivoroid fretboard inlays that include the moth and large dot position markers, and a custom double-ring rosette also in grained ivoroid.”
This isn’t the first time that Taylor has made a Last of Us guitar, as the company produced a Last of Us guitar to help promote The Last of Us: Part II in 2020. This version was similar in design but was based on the Taylor 314ce model and sold for $2,300. Taylor also produced a $700 GS Mini guitar with striking Last of Us art on it.
HBO’s The Last of Us recently concluded its second season, capping things off with major drama. A third season is now on the way, and it’s going to focus on Abby’s story. No new The Last of Us games have been announced, but Naughty Dog is working on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and at least one other game.
