The Epic Games Store Adds Two More Spooky Freebies for You

I think all gaming fans should ‘bemoan’ the death of exclusives and not look forward to it as something that should happen to all games. It’s not about loyalty to specific platforms (at least for me) but more to do with what I believe will lead to a degradation of innovative games and a proliferation of bare-minimum game development.

Traditionally, exclusively-developed games took advantage of the specific hardware’s capabilities that really made some games shine above others. Not too many third-party developers go that extra mile to make their games special IMO. Rockstar immediately stands out as an exceptional third-party developer that consistently delivered quality multiplatform titles but, unfortunately, they are not the norm in this industry. But I find it hard to think they we would have gotten many of the classic titles that we have played over the years if they were not exclusively first-party developed titles. That’s primarily because those devs could pour all of their design into making the game great on that one platform rather than trying to develop it for all platforms.

Unfortunately, I can’t see Xbox in their current form bringing any more innovation to their new IPs (if they ever do make new IPs going forward). I’ll be happy to admit I was wrong if they prove me wrong in the future. I just want to continue to enjoy gaming as I have ever since I was a kid.

Just my 2 cents…
