Google Chrome’s Reading Mode on Android gets a huge revamp to make it more seamless to use

If you just want to cut to the chase and get to the meat of a website, Google Chrome’s Reading Mode is going to be a vital tool to get it done. When you enable Reading Mode, you’ll only get all the essentials of a website, making it easy on the eyes and even easier to consume.

And while this would be perfect, the option to enable Reading Mode doesn’t always pop up when you’re surfing the web using Chrome on Android, which can make things frustrating. Luckily, Google is making some updates to Reading Mode, making it a more seamless and enjoyable experience.

This is exactly what it needed

This was first spotted by the folks at 9to5Google, sharing that they are now seeing the new and improved Reading Mode on some of its devices. This update is available with the latest version of Chrome for Android, coming in at version 143. So, if you’re not seeing it yet, you’ll need to be patient.

As far as what you should be seeing if you have access to it, is a new Reading Mode option in the Chrome menu when accessing the browser’s options through the three-dot or kebab menu. Once you activate it, you’ll be given an indicator, letting you know that you’re in Reading Mode, and flicking up on the tab will provide options to customize the experience.

This should look somewhat familiar, as there will be options for fonts, font sizes, and also different colors. The best part about this is that apparently, all your customizations for Reading Mode are now carried over whenever you’re navigating to different pages. While it might not be the most complex update to arrive on Chrome, it’s a pretty good one that a lot of people will be able to take advantage of.

If you’re someone that’s online every day and constantly surfing web pages and reading through tons of articles, it’s important to get to know Reading Mode on Chrome. It’s one of those tools that usually flies under the radar for most people.

Not only is it available on mobile devices, but you can also use it on your PC and Mac as well. You can even use Reading Mode to have it read the text from articles out loud. If you haven’t tried it yet, we highly recommend it.
