Destiny 2‘s Season of the Worthy has all led up to Saturday, June 6, when Bungie launched the game’s first live event. Throughout the season, players have been working to upgrade the capabilities of Rasputin, a sprawling defense computer known as a Warmind, so that it could use its weaponry to shoot down a giant spaceship called the Almighty before it crashed into the Earth, killing thousands. With Rasputin powered up, it finally leveraged its weaponry against the Almighty and destroyed the ship, once and for all.
If you missed it, check out the video above to see what happened during the live event, in which players rallied at the Tower to watch Rasputin bring the ship down–and not a moment too soon. The Almighty had been launched from its orbit around the sun all the way back to Earth at the start of this season, where it threatened to crash into the Last City, humanity’s final bastion of safety in Destiny 2. Throughout the season, players completed events that allowed Rasputin to launch new satellites and link together ancient defense systems in order to have the capability to destroy the ship.
Rasputin launched missiles at the Almighty as it approached Earth, which could be seen arcing across the sky for a good 20 minutes before they started to impact the enormous spaceship. But it was only after ordinance hit the ship for an extended period–another 20 minutes or so–that the Almighty was finally destroyed. Debris plummeted through the atmosphere, nearly striking the Tower, before the biggest of the wreckage careened past the city and landed in the nearby mountains.
We don’t know what’s next for Destiny 2, but Bungie has said it’ll be outlining the next chapter of the game with the launch of its next content season on June 9. Season 11 kicks off at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET on that day, while the livestream detailing Destiny 2’s next chapter will start at 9 AM PT / noon ET.
